151 Maiden Lane

Location: New York, New York

Year: 2014 - 2018

Role: Project Designer at PPA Architects

In response to neighboring buildings such as 180 Maiden Lane and 88 Pine Street, buildings which have extremely regular, gridded, and monotonous facades, this building works to create a unique presence in the city by abstracting the reflections of the neighboring towers.  In the same way that Picasso abstracts fairly mundane objects in his cubist still life paintings, our design for 151 Maiden Lane creates an abstracted and intricate play of reflections, shadows, and light in the city, and on the unprecedented and exciting scale of an architectural facade.
